A Kimchi refrigerator and the controlling method thereof are provided to sense the smell of Kimchi to determine whether the Kimchi is fermented or not even when its storage room is opened, thereby obtaining desiredly fermented Kimchi. A storage room accommodates Kimchi. A sensor detects the specific gas components spread in the storage room and outputs an electric signal corresponding to them. A controller(100) determines whether the first output representing a current output is less than the second output representing a previous output and determines whether the Kimchi is fermented or not by using the first output or the second output. |
