An image display device and a driving method for turning off and turning on power automatically are provided to reduce power consumption by automatically turning on the power of the image display device. An image display unit(20) comprises a sub-control unit. The sub-control unit operates an image display panel. The sub-control unit performs automatic turning on function. An image display driving unit(10) comprises the main control unit. The main control unit transmits the video signal for operating the image display panel, the control signal and the information signal about the automatic on time. An automatic on switch(30) applies automatic on signal to the main control unit.
