A display device performing the restriction of image data and a control method thereof for performing the view restriction of the image data by preventing the reproduction of a specific sector are provided to supply view restriction efficiently by skipping the specific sector of the image data. A media interface unit receives image data from an image reproduction device(S20). A displaying unit displays the image data(S30). A controller determines whether the regeneration protecting setup instruction is received from the outside(S40). The displaying unit displays a menu screen for setting up the reproduction prevention(S50). The controller determines whether the regeneration protecting setup instruction of the specified section was inputted. A storing unit stores the information about the specified section in which the regeneration protecting is set up. |
