A method for displaying a preferred program by using an electronic program guide is provided to notify a user of a broadcasting time of a preferred program even though the user watches another program of a broadcasting time zone of the preferred program. A controller compares a start time of a preferred program with a current time(S320). The controller checks whether the current time is 10 minutes before the start time of the preferred program(S330). If the current time is 10 minutes before the start time of the preferred program, the controller checks a power state of a DTV(S340). If a power source is in an on state, the controller checks whether the currently watched channel is the same as a channel of the preferred program(S350). If the currently watched channel is not the same as the channel of the preferred program, the controller displays information of the preferred program to make the user recognize the preferred program(S360). |
