An image display device and a control method improving visual impression through the adjustment of histogram distribution are provided to set up the picture quality of the image display device by using histogram. A display unit indicates an image. A controller(90) controls the picture quality indicated through the display unit of image. A histogram processing unit(100) analyzes histogram to the image inputted through the display unit or the sample image. In case the distribution of the histogram indicated by the histogram processing unit is changed by the user, the controller outputs the image indicated through the display unit according to the changed histogram distribution.
