A wide viewing angle liquid crystal display device is provided to change a polarizing characteristic of light transmitting a liquid crystal display device through negative bi-axial films, thereby improving a characteristic in a diagonal direction. The first negative bi-axial film(242) is installed between an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(201) and the first polarizer(250). The second negative bi-axial film(244) is installed between the LCD panel and the second polarizer(260). In the second negative bi-axial film, a retardation value of a horizontal direction is 60~130nm. The retardation value of a thickness direction is 60~160nm. nx, ny and nz are respectively refractive indexes of an x axial direction, a y axial direction and a z axial direction. The first and second negative bi-axial films change a polarizing state of light. |
