METHOD TO MASK CELL IDENTIFIERS OR LOCATION AREA CODES OF A MOBILE NETWORK WITH RESPECT TO A MOBILE TERMINAL

A method for masking a cell ID or location area codes of a mobile network to a mobile terminal is provided to surely protect privacy of users by masking the cell ID or the location area codes of the mobile network. A masking module generates all or a part of dynamic cell IDs or dynamic location area codes from fixed cell IDs or fixed location area codes to protect geographic coordinates from other services or external users. The masking module generates the fixed cell IDs or the fixed location area codes from the dynamic cell IDs or the dynamic location area codes in a signaling channel to enable other network equipments to translate the fixed cell IDs or the fixed location area codes.
