THE DYNAMIC PROBABILISTIC PACKET MARKING ALGORITHM FOR SUPPORTING FAIRNESS

A dynamic probabilistic packet marking algorithm for fairness guarantee is provided to trace the route and location of an attacker by receiving a relatively small number of packets. A probability packet marking algorithm reads distance field data comprising an ID field of the packet IP header(81). The probability packet marking algorithm calculates a new packet marking probability(Pd) according to the distance(82). The probability packet marking algorithm generates the Offset value randomly and records in an Offset field(85). The probability packet marking algorithm records the segment address of router corresponding to the Offset in Start field and records 0 in the Distance field(87).
