The tire (10) has annular bead wires (16) rotated around a reference axis, and a toroidal shaped casing ply (42) with a part (44) folded around the wires. A material interface (64) is partially defined by a junction between a rubber ply (48) i.e. volume filling body, and a rubber coating ply (52). The ply (52) has an elongated electronic unit (54) with a passive radio frequency identification transponder (56). The interface is extended radially from a free edge (66) of the part to a circumferential junction line (68) between the interface and the ply (42), while being moved away from the axis. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a tire.
