METHOD FOR FAST INTER MODE DECISION FOR VIDEO ENCODING

A high speed intermode decision method for video coding reducing a time for motion estimation is provided to omit movement estimation about a partial mode of low probability determined in the motion estimation initial is low. An SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) value is calculated about a mode 1(16 by 16)(S100). The SAD threshold value calculated according to a QP(Quantization Parameter) is calculated(S110). The SAD value is smaller than the SAD threshold(S120). In case the SAD value is smaller than the SAD threshold, the motion estimation about a mode 3 through a mode 1 is performed(S130). In case the SAD value is greater than the SAD threshold, the motion estimation about all modes is performed(S140). The optimum mode having the most little cost is selected(S150).
