PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device wherein a first substrate and a second substrate are laminated on each other via a first seal material which is applied to a peripheral region in a framed shape and a second seal material which is filled in a region encircled by the first seal material, while avoiding the residence of bubbles in the region encircled by the first seal material, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the organic EL device 100 comprises a first seal material applying step of applying the ultraviolet-curable first seal material 91a at its broken portion 91s along the peripheral region 10c of the first substrate 10, a second seal material applying step of applying the heat-curable second seal material 92a in the region encircled by the first seal material 91a, a laying step of laying the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 20 on each other to hold the first seal material 91a and the second seal material 92a therebetween, and a seal material curing step of curing the first seal material 91a and the second seal material 92a.
