PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detector that is miniaturized and achieves accurate detection using an inexpensive and safe light source. SOLUTION: This object detector 1 includes a light emitting element 2 for radiating light to a region to be detected, a first light receiving element 5a for receiving reflected light reflected by an object to be detected existing in the region to be detected, a second light receiving element 5b for receiving light of a wavelength different from that of the reflected light from the region to be detected, a light reflecting section 3 for deflecting the reflected light and the light of a wavelength different from that of the reflected light in the direction of the light reception by the first and second light receiving elements 5a and 5b, a rotation driving means 4 for rotating the light reflecting section 3 in a predetermined angle range, and a detecting means 6 for detecting the existence of the object be detected and its direction based on the intensity distribution of the light received by the first and second light receiving elements with respect to the rotation angle of the light reflecting section 3.
