PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light measuring device for measuring the degree of polarization without using a standard fluorochrome molecule. SOLUTION: A light measuring device includes a first and second light sources 1 for emitting the polarization of different wavelength, a light guide optical system for guiding the polarization to an object, a measurement optical system for separating polarization from the object generated by the former polarization into first and second polarization components whose polarization surfaces are orthogonal and guiding the polarization components to first and second photodetectors 2, respectively, and an arithmetic device for measuring the degree of polarization of a sample based on detection signals from both photodetectors. The arithmetic device calculates the degree P of polarization of the sample based on detection signals I<SB>1</SB>and I<SB>2</SB>from both photodetectors obtained by irradiating a member for reflecting light with the polarization from the first light source, detection signal I<SB>1</SB>' and I<SB>2</SB>' from both photodetectors obtained by radiating the polarization where the polarization surface of the polarization from the first light source is rotated by 90°, and detection signal Q<SB>1</SB>and Q<SB>2</SB>from both photodetectors obtained by irradiating a vessel storing the sample with the polarization from the second light source.
