Disclosed is a treatment agent for synthetic fibers, which prevents fuzz and thread breaks and does not require heating when in use. Also disclosed is a method for producing a synthetic fiber, wherein the treatment agent is used. Specifically disclosed is a treatment agent containing an ester component, a nonionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant containing an organic phosphate salt as an essential ingredient, and a polyester ether compound represented by General formula (1) and having a melting point not more than 40°C. The active ingredients of the treatment agent are composed of 25-75% by weight of the ester component, 20-70% by weight of the nonionic surfactant, 0.1-6% by weight of the anionic surfactant and 1-20% by weight of the polyester ether compound.
