The method involves providing a printing plate (1) with bending points (11, 12), which are produced by bending. Processing units are provided for processing a printing surface (10) of the printing plate at the bending points so that jags in the surface of the printing plate are smoothed, where the jags arise at the bending points. A mechanically operated removal unit e.g. brush unit (2), is provided for removal processing of the surface of the printing plate at the bending points. The surface of the printing plate is processed at an angle of 90 degrees to the bending points.
