<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet shaped negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery which has a reduced cost and a high performance. <P>SOLUTION: The sheet-shaped negative electrode for the lithium ion secondary battery contains carbonaceous particles which store and release lithium ions and a binding agent for binding the carbonaceous particles, and a pore volume per mass of pores with diameters in a range of 0.05 to 100 μm is 0.07 to 1.0 cc/g.
