PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which adopts a multi-domain vertical alignment (MVA) mode capable of shortening a response time while maintaining optical characteristics in an allowable level. SOLUTION: The MVA mode liquid crystal display device configured such that a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules having negative dielectric constant anisotropy is held between a first substrate and a second substrate includes a structure CB which controls an alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules so as to form a multi-domain in each of pixels. The structure CB is composed of a first structure CC1 which is disposed so as to overlap a light-shielding line and a second structure CC2 which is disposed in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first structure and is formed to be narrower than the first structure.
