PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alarm which reports a mechanical abnormality such as lowering of voltage at a time point adapted to a life cycle of each user. SOLUTION: The alarm includes: a timer section, which when a prescribed operation is made generates a timing signal at the same time with that operated time as a starting point for measuring time; a sensor section for self-diagnosis for executing a self-diagnosis of an appliance including battery exhaustion, and a controller for activating the sensor section for self-diagnosis and after the prescribed operation is accepted determines whether or not the result of the self-diagnosis is reported according to conditions which are prepared beforehand at the point when the timing signal is received.
