The invention relates to a rolling element for a rolling bearing comprising a hollow roller having a throughbore that extends along a rotational axis of the hollow roller and a cylindrical overload element arranged coaxially in the throughbore. The invention further relates to a rolling bearing comprising said rolling element. The hollow roller according to the invention can e.g. be a hollow cylinder for a cylindrical roller bearing, a tapered hollow roller for a tapered roller bearing, a spherical hollow roller for a spherical roller bearing or a hollow ball for a ball bearing. The aim of the invention is to provide a rolling element which allows a partially elastic deformation during operation, to e.g. reduce the slip in a rolling bearing, and at the same time prevents any elastic deformation which would damage the bearing. The rolling element according to the invention is characterized in that it has a radial play between the throughbore and the overload element, the extent of said play being selected in such a manner that the hollow roller rests against the overload element due to a radial load on the rolling element that is present in the rolling bearing between two raceways before a predetermined, admissible material stress of the hollow roller is exceeded. |
