<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon carbide-based porous body which can prevent excessive temperature elevation when it is used as a filter and the captured particulate matter (PM) is burnt and removed. <P>SOLUTION: The silicon carbide-based porous body comprises a plurality of silicon carbide (SiC) particles as aggregate and a binder which binds the silicon carbide particles to each other, wherein the content of the binder, [100×binder/(silicon carbide particles+binder)] is 5-70 vol.%, the open pore ratio is 30-70%, and the binder contains at least one member selected from the group consisting of a Ti silicide, a Zr silicide, an Mo silicide and a W silicide, in an amount of at least ≥60 vol.% of the total binder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
