<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cool an ultraviolet lamp substantially uniformly over the longitudinal direction. <P>SOLUTION: The ultraviolet irradiation device 1 includes a lamp storage box 4 for storing the straight tube type ultraviolet lamp 2 and a reflecting plate 12 for reflecting ultraviolet light from the ultraviolet lamp 2, wherein the ultraviolet light is delivered from the ultraviolet lamp 2 and the reflecting plate 12 through a light transmissive window 23 as an irradiation window provided in the lamp storage box 4. The lamp storage box 4 has a plurality of cooling air inlets 88 on both sides across the ultraviolet lamp 2 and the reflecting plate 12 along the longitudinal direction of the ultraviolet lamp 2. Each cooling air inlet 88 on one side of the ultraviolet lamp 2 and each cooling air inlet 88 on the other side are connected to mutually different air guide tubes 80, respectively. Also, the cooling air is made to flow into each of the air guide tubes 80 in mutually opposite directions of the air guide tubes 80. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
