<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ink for ink-jet recording for improving dullness of black printed matter and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The water-based ink for ink-jet recording is an ink that includes a polymer particle containing carbon black having a DBP oil absorption of ≤90 cm<SP>3</SP>/100 g in which the number of particles having particle diameters of 0.79-5.00 μm existing in 1 ml of the ink is ≤5.0×10<SP>5</SP>and the weight-average molecular weight of the polymer is 45,000-500,000.
