<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated tool with enhanced machining performance for steel and stainless steel. <P>SOLUTION: A cutting tool insert has a cemented carbide base material and a coating and is useful for wet or dry machining of, especially, steel or stainless steel. The coating includes a first layer, namely, the innermost layer being a Ti<SB>1-x</SB>Al<SB>x</SB>N layer made of columnar grains and having a total thickness of 0.5-5μm, preferably 1-4μm while satisfying a formula of 0.25≤x≤0.7, preferably a formula of x>0.4, and a layer being an (Al<SB>1-y</SB>Cr<SB>y</SB>)<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>layer made of columnar grains and having a thickness of 1-5μm, preferably 1.5-4.5μm, most preferably 2-4μm while satisfying a formula of 0.1≤y≤0.6, preferably a formula of y=0.5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
