PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively correct the deterioration of the wavefront aberration in a diagonal incidence type optical scanner suitable for low cost, low power consumption and miniaturization. SOLUTION: A luminous flux emitted from a semiconductor laser 1 is guided via a coupling lens 2, an aperture 3 and a cylindrical lens 4 to an optical deflector 6 so as to have an angle in sub scanning direction with respect to the normal line of the reflection face of the optical deflector 6 with a turning back mirror 5 which is so disposed that the reflected light has a deflection angle with respect to incident light both in the main and sub scanning directions. The scanning lens L1 constituting a scanning optical system acts as a correction lens having the function that the emission angle from the scanning lens L1 becomes larger in the periphery in the main scanning direction than at the center of the scanning lens L1 with respect to the incident angle on the scanning lens L1 in the sub scanning direction in relation to the normal line of the deflective reflection face of the optical deflector 6, and the deflection angle in the sub scanning direction is larger on the light source side than on the side opposite to the light source in the main scanning direction.
