PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel support system which can reduce the time, from the reading of information from an RF tag arranged in the vicinity of a traveler to the provision of information showing travel, with the direction deviating from the route of the traveller to the traveller. SOLUTION: The travel support system provided with a plurality of RF tags and a travel support terminal. The plurality of RF tags are arranged along one side, or both sides of a route along which a traveler can travel, and register information having the common characteristics on the same side. The travel support terminal comprises a means for reading RF tag information from a nearby RF tag; a means which registers the travel direction of the traveler; a means for holding information regarding the correspondence relation between the travel direction of the traveler and the characteristics of the RF tag information; a means for generating information showing travel with the direction deviating from the route of the traveler, on the basis of the RF tag information, the registered information about the traveling direction of the traveler, and the correspondence relation information; and a means for providing the traveler with the generated information.
