PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical glass having lower autofluorescence intensity than before, and to provide an optical device using the same. SOLUTION: The optical glass contains <5 ppm of Cr per 100% of a base glass composition which contains, on a weight basis, 2-10% of SiO<SB>2</SB>, 5-45% of B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-15% of RO (wherein R=Zn, Sr, Ca, Ba), 30-60% of La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-40% of Ln<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>(wherein Ln=Y, Gd), and 0-30% of (ZrO<SB>2</SB>+Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>+Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>).
