PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective material which is provided with connection means connecting conventional multistage protective materials with each other, and supplies air to turf via tread pressure by people walking on the material. SOLUTION: The protective material is laid on a base, and includes a base frame, an intermediate frame, an upper frame, and a fixing frame for fixing the upper frame to the intermediate frame: wherein the base frame includes base tread parts and base through-hole parts, the upper frame includes upper tread parts and upper through-hole parts, the upper tread parts are formed into cylindrical ones whose lower parts are through and whose upper ends are closed, the upper through-hole parts includes hole parts surrounded by the upper tread parts, the intermediate frame is formed into a net state, second connection parts connected to the open parts of the bottoms of the tread parts of the upper frame are formed at the intersections of the meshes of the net state intermediate frame, third connection parts connecting the intermediate frame with the top part of the tread part of the base frame, the fixing frame is disposed on the upper frame, and fourth connection parts connected to the intermediate frame are formed at the lower part of the fixing frame.
