Arabic numerals 0, 1 corresponding to a binary number pulse train are produced on the screen of a double-beam cathode-ray tube by opposite impulsive Y-deflections of the beams and X- deflection by a time base whose speed is reduced during the occurrence of digit 1, Fig. 8 (a), (b). The beams may be blanked by gridcathode modulation to improve the presentation, Fig. 8 (c).
