PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter, control method and program of a transmitter, a receiver, control method and program of a receiver, and a wireless communication system which correct IQ imbalance easily. SOLUTION: The transmitter using an OFDM system for wireless communication includes: a section for arranging a reference signal composed of a predetermined known signal sequence, a null symbol including no signal, and a data symbol obtained by modulating data composed of information to be transmitted or control information in an OFDM symbol; an inverse Fourier transform section for creating an OFDM signal of time region by inverse Fourier transforming an OFDM symbol where the symbol arrangement section is arranged; and a wireless communication section for modulating an OFDM signal created at the inverse Fourier transform section to produce an RF signal in a predetermined wireless frequency band and transmitting the RF signal. The symbol arrangement section arranges the reference signal or the data symbol and the null symbol, respectively, in subcarriers having frequencies symmetrical with respect to the central frequency of the OFDM signal.
