PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical signal generator which generates a wide-band optical frequency modulation signal. SOLUTION: The optical signal generator includes a modulated signal generator 11 which outputs a modulated signal having a predetermined amplitude with a predetermined added bias and consisting of a modulated signal current, a laser light source 12 which outputs an optical signal with a single spectrum modulated in accordance with the modulated signal, and an optical filter 12 which filters the output optical signal of the laser light source 12 with predetermined pass characteristics. The optical filter 13 has the pass characteristics decreasing in light transmittance in accordance with frequency detuning from a minimum frequency of a filter operation range, and the pass characteristics have nearly constant transmittance in an optical frequency range corresponding to the frequency range of the modulated signal.
