<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit of a power transmission apparatus for a vehicle for suitably suppressing occurrence of shift shock. <P>SOLUTION: An electric motor M1 is provided so that rotational speed N<SB>E</SB>of an engine 10 can be controlled in accordance with a change in its rotation. The control unit performs a gear-shift of a first shift unit 16 and a gear-shift of a second shift unit 20 simultaneously, and if change directions of gear ratios γ0, γA of the first and the second shift units 16, 20 are opposite to each other, controls the motor M1 so that the change direction of the speed N<SB>E</SB>of the engine 10 is maintained constant throughout the gear-shift.
