摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emission element enabling stable electron emission not only in vacuum but also in atmospheric pressure and suppressing the occurrence of harmful substances such as ozone and NOx accompanied with the electron emission.

SOLUTION: The electron emission element 1 includes a particulate layer 4 between a substrate 2 and an upper part electrode 3, and the particulate layer 4 contains metal particulates 6 having high antioxidant power and particulates 5 of an insulator which have larger sizes than that of the metal particulates 6. In the electron emission element 1, electrons can be emitted stably not only in the vacuum but also in the atmospheric pressure, the harmful substances such as ozone and NOx are almost not formed since discharge is not accompanied, and oxidation deterioration does not occur. For that reason, the electron emission element 1 has a long service-life, and can carry out continuous operation for a long time even in the atmospheric pressure.
