<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an air conditioner reducing a leaking amount of a refrigerant into a room due to damage of piping or the like due to shaking of an earthquake, and quickly returning to an original state when the shaking is small. <P>SOLUTION: In the control device for the air conditioner, an outdoor unit installed on a building frame and indoor units provided in each room in a building are connected by piping for a refrigerant, and a closed circuit is composed for circulating the refrigerant. A signal is inputted from a seismic sensing device sensing preliminary tremors or principal motions attendant on an earthquake, refrigerant liquid is moved from the indoor units to the outdoor unit by carrying out pump down operation when the signal regarding preliminary tremors is inputted, and when the principal motions of a predetermined seismic intensity or more is detected, the piping for the refrigerant is closed and the pump down operation is stopped.
