PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throw-away type face milling cutter for preventing damage to a machined surface due to chips entering to the front end face side of a tool body. SOLUTION: The throw-away type face milling cutter comprises the tool body 10 to be rotated around the axis, a recessed portion 11 formed in the front end outer periphery of the tool body 10, and a throw-away tip 20 detachably mounted in the recessed portion 11. The main face as a rake face 21 of the throw-away tip is formed polygonal and the main face is inclined to the axis toward the outer periphery side so that a corner angleαof a cutting edge 22 formed on a side ridge portion located at the front end outer periphery of the main face is set in a range of 25-65°. On the other hand, on the outer periphery of a front end face 13 of the tool body, an outer edge portion 14 is formed at the side ridge portion adjacent to the front end inner periphery side of the cutting edge 22 to approach a plane perpendicular to the axis.
