METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DECODING LOW DENSITY PARITY CHECK CODE

A method and an apparatus for decoding a low density parity check code are provided to reduce decoding complexity and repetition number about the check node. A variable node message memory(401) stores a variable node message vector. A controller controls a node operating unit to write in the variable node message memory and read from the variable node message memory and controls the repetition process of the device. A node operation unit(404) updates the check node message and the variable node message and calculates the determining message. The node operation unit includes a variable node message generating unit, a variable node message updating unit, and a parity check unit. A variable node message generating unit calculates the node message to be used in the check node message calculating unit according to the node message vector. The parity check unit includes a hard decision calculating unit calculating a hard decision message about the variable node and a parity check unit calculating a parity bit and outputting the calculated result to a decoding termination controller.
