<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a handwritten rote card in a state of displaying an entry word of dictionary data and its explanatory information, in an electronic dictionary device with a handwriting input function. <P>SOLUTION: In a state where an explanatory information display screen G corresponding to the desired entry word is displayed on a touch panel type display part 17, a front area 32f and a reverse area 32r of the rote card to be created on the screen G are displayed, and are sequentially selected by a cursor C to input handwritten characters as the entry word and handwritten characters as the explanatory information corresponding to the entry word in a handwriting input part 16a. The handwritten entry word and explanatory information are displayed in the front area 32f and reverse area 32r, are associated as front data and reverse data of single rote card data, and are registered in a RAM.
