<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate transfer type image forming apparatus in which the opening/closing operation of a shutter, the separating operation of an intermediate transfer belt and a secondary transfer unit, and the separating operation of the shutter in attaching/detaching the intermediate transfer belt can be carried out in a coordinated series and such a coordinated operation is achieved with a mechanism structure that is simpler with a small number of components. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises an eccentric cam 37 constituting a separation/contact mechanism part arranged to abut on both the shutter 41 and the secondary transfer unit 31. The eccentric cam 37 moves the shutter 41 to open and moves the secondary transfer unit 31 to separate from the intermediate transfer belt 61 when a reference toner image is detected by an optical sensor 51. When the secondary transfer unit 31 is pulled out of an apparatus body, the shutter 41 is moved to separate from the intermediate transfer belt 61 by a torsion coil spring 43 constituting the separation/contact mechanism part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
