<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CAN type optical module that prevents variations or stress of a mounting position. <P>SOLUTION: The CAN type optical module includes a system 201 comprising a first insulating tabular member 201b on an inside surface of which an optical component 102 is mounted and a second conductive tabular member 201a with an opening portion to which the first tabular member 201b is bonded to cover the opening portion. A conductive CAN member 103 is bonded to the second tabular member 201a so as to include the optical component 102 on the first tabular member 201b.
