PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect moving objects accurately irrespective of the size of the moving objects in images (even when the moving objects are distant). SOLUTION: A moving object detection device 100 has an optical-flow-based moving object detection part 130 for detecting moving objects in images by an optical flow method and an inter-frame difference moving object detection part 140 for detecting moving objects in images by an inter-frame difference method, and outputs the result of detection by the optical-flow-based moving object detection part 130 or inter-frame difference moving object detection part 140 according to whether an own vehicle is stopped.
