<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To especially improve head part protection performance of a pedestrian by using an airbag. <P>SOLUTION: A pedestrian protection device has a lid 10 with a front hinge to open backward on an upper end part of a bumper facia panel 3, and the lid 10 is integrally formed with the bumper facia panel 3. An airbag device 14 including an inflator 12 and the airbag 13 is arranged below the lid 10, and the airbag device 14 is fixed on a shroud upper member 15. The airbag 13 is designed to deploy backward along a bonnet line. Length dimensions of the airbag 13 are set so that a rear end of the airbag 13 makes contact with the neighborhood of a front window 17 or the front window 17 when the airbag 13 deploys to extend to the rear on a bonnet hood 2 or set so that a rear part of the airbag 13 wholly covers an upper surface of the whole of a vehicle body including the bonnet hood 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
