PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the wear resistance of a pneumatic tire having main grooves extending in zigzags in its circumferential direction, by suppressing the progress of wear from the distal ends of zigzag-shaped protrusions of ribs defined by the main grooves. SOLUTION: Thin grooves 13 crossing in the tire circumferential direction are formed in the zigzag-shaped protrusions 21T, 22T of the zigzag-shaped ribs 21, 22 formed at a tread part 2 of the pneumatic tire 1. The grooves split the distal ends of the protrusions 21T, 22T to define the ribs 21, 22 into rib bodies 21A, 22A extending in the tire circumferential direction and distal-end blocks 21B, 22B, where the distal-end blocks 21B, 22B serve as defense blocks for protecting the rib bodies 21A, 22A from wear. The distal-end ribs 21B, 22B protrude in the radially outward direction of the tire with respect to the tread surfaces of the respective rib bodies 21A, 22A, wherein at least one sipe is formed.
