PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce communication burdens on a main board in symbol control, and to eliminate the subtle deviation of the stop position of stop symbols. SOLUTION: The main board 50 transmits a variation command including variation time information of symbols to the CPU 11 of a symbol display device 10. The CPU 11 of the symbol display device 10 which receives the variation command 40 performs variable display corresponding to the variation command 40. When the variation time elapses, the CPU 51 of the main board 50 transmits a symbol stop command to the CPU 11 of the symbol display device 10, and the CPU 11 of the symbol display device 10 which receives the symbol stop command stops the stop symbol relating to the stop symbol data at a position at which it is to be originally stopped.
