PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve file transfer from a portable device to an MFP or job initiation through a series of simple operations of placing (holding) a mobile information terminal at (over) a predetermined placing position of a communication apparatus and carrying it up. SOLUTION: A communication apparatus includes: a radio communication means for performing radio communication with a mobile information terminal; a placing means for placing the mobile information terminal therein; a detection means for detecting whether the mobile information terminal is placed in the placing means or not; a data processing means for receiving and processing data from the mobile information terminal via the radio communication means; and a procedure processing means for performing processing by receiving operation procedures from the mobile information terminal via the radio communication means. When it is detected that the mobile information terminal is placed in the placing means, data and procedures are received from the mobile information terminal; and when it is detected thereafter that the mobile information terminal is not placed in the placing means, the procedures are carried out.
