PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the power required during a standby state and to prevent a telephone set from ringing unnecessarily in facsimile arrival. SOLUTION: A CI detection circuit 280 provided in an NCU 100 of a facsimile apparatus includes two detection circuits of a first detection circuit 281 and a second detection circuit 282. In the case where a no-ring call incoming mode is set by a user, call incoming is waited in an OFF state of an H relay 250 (S403). Upon detection of a signal from a telephone line by the second detection circuit 282 which detects a signal having a voltage lower than a voltage that the first detection circuit 281 can detect (S404), the H relay 250 is turned to ON state (S405), and detection of a CI signal is performed by the first detection circuit 281 (S407). If no CI signal is detected, the H relay 250 is turned to OFF state again (S403). If a CI signal is detected, on the other hand, a CML relay 240 is turned to ON state. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
