PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of writing necessary data in a nonvolatile memory when a commercial power to be supplied to the image forming apparatus is interrupted. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a power supply device which generates a first power supply to supply power to loads of a driving system and a second power supply to supply power to loads of a signal system from an AC power supply; a control means to which the power is supplied from the second power supply; a switch means which switches propriety of power supply from the first power supply; a zero-cross detection means which detects timing of a zero cross of the AC power supply; and the nonvolatile memory for storing the required data, which is made to act by the second power supply. When the zero cross is not detected on a predetermined condition by the detection means (S103), the control means sets the switch means to an off-state to cut off the power supply by the first power supply (S105), and also stores the required data in the nonvolatile memory (S106).
