PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly shift a vibration isolation unit to a protective state with a simple configuration, with respect to detection of dropping. SOLUTION: The optical apparatus includes the vibration isolation unit, having movable units 21 and 24 that can be displaced with respect to a fixing section 22; and driving means 23a, 23b, 25a and 25b for driving the movable units within a prescribed range R, in order to reduce image shake. The optical apparatus includes a detecting means 20 for detecting the dropping movement of the optical apparatus and the movement equivalent to the dropping movement; and a control means 18 for controlling the driving means to make the movable units driven beyond the prescribed range so as to pressurize the movable units to the fixing section, according to detection of the movement of the optical apparatus by the detecting means.
