An optical film is provided to enable constant polarized light conversion in a wide wavelength area and to ensure excellent adhesion of a support substrate and the optical film and adhesion of an alignment layer and the optical film. An optical film(2) is obtained by polymerizing a compound containing a group represented by chemical formula (A): -Ga-Da-Ar-Db-Gb- and at least one polymerizable group. In chemical formula (A), Ar shows a divalent group having one or more aromatic ring selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbon ring and aromatic heterocycles, wherein the sum number (Npi) of pi electrons of an aromatic ring included in a divalent group is 12 or more; Da and Db, are independently single bond, -CO-O-, -O-CO-, -C(=S)-O-, -O-C(=S)-, -CR^1R^2-, -CR^1R^2-CR^3R^4-, -O-CR^1R^2-, -CR^1R^2-O-, -CR^1R^2-O-CR^3R^4-, -CR^1R^2-O-CO-, -O-CO-CR^1R^2-, -CR^1R^2-O-CO-CR^3R^4-, -CR^1R^2-CO-O-CR^3R^4-, NR^1-CR^2R^3-, -CR^2R^3-NR^1-, -CO-NR^1- or NR^1-CO-; and Ga and Gb independently show divalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group. |
