A control apparatus for a cooker and a method thereof are provided to stop operation of the corresponding burner when an abnormal operation is sensed. A control apparatus for a cooker comprises a step(S101) which runs the burner when a user inputs a cook start command; a step(S102) which senses a signal returning from a display unit; and a step which controls a plurality of burner according to continuous returned signals. The returning signal sensing step is a step which senses whether constant cycle high signals is successively inputted from a plurality of light emitting diodes. The step controlling a plurality of burner is a step(S104) which determines normal and drives a plurality of burners when the received signal is a continuous signal(S103) and a step which finds out the abnormal operation burner according to the sequence of the inputted signal(S106) and stops driving of the corresponding burner(S107) when the returned signal is not continuous signal.
