<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device capable of suppressing generation of uneven film thickness and displaying high-quality images and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device comprises a barrier rib to partition first, second, and third regions, a first organic film disposed in the first region, a second organic film disposed in the second region, and a third organic film disposed in the third region. The first region contains a plurality of effective pixels for emitting light disposed along a first aligning axis. One of the effective pixels comprises an effective pixel electrode, a common electrode, and a first organic film disposed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode. The second and third regions are oppositely disposed with the first region between them.
