PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a rectangular edge wise coil that is manufactured at low cost without using any device called a winding machine with a high space factor of a coil and a satisfactory heat dissipation. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a rectangular edge wise coil by using a plurality of rod wires 1 includes a composite rectangular line working step of working a composite rectangular wire 2 configured of cross-sectional almost rectangular wires having arcs with small diameters at four corners which are adhered to each other in parallel by supplying a plurality of rod wires 1 in parallel, and making them pass through an extraction dice such as a roller dice 20; and a roller bending step of working the composite rectangular wire 2 into a linear side section and a curved corner part by supplying the obtained composite rectangular lines 2, and making them meander through rollers adjusted to fixed non-parallel clearances in every prescribed distance.
